Listening

Writer: RavenRaven

Hey EvenFall! Happy Friday! Let's talk about listening. Listening to each other is a very strong challenge, as most of us don't listen to me about God's word. Instead, they rather listen to the words of their pastor, or their family. While hearing words we LIKE to hear are nice, it's always temporary. Your pastors most of the time only preach on Sundays. And even then, they only preach about select verses. As such, most Christians don't know the full Bible. Honestly speaking, the Bible is chock full of a lot of stories. Some good, some very very bad to the point we don't want to talk about it. Specifically the book of Judges. No Christian wants to learn about the book of Judges. So they don't listen to any verses from it. However, it's all true. Judges happened, under God's watchful eye. Nothing is beneath God, He will do what He needs to do. And we all need to stop turning a blind eye to it. The sooner we stop pulling verses to help shield our identities the sooner we can grow as a species on this planet. Last night I had a dream I was on a university. I was preaching Proverbs and only a few people listened. The rest were stressed from having studies. When we preach on college campuses, we want you to be able to relax here and there and let God do the work for you. Let's take inspiration from the New Testament. Jesus preached for a living. As he preached He healed many many people. However, the Pharisees and even his own disciples stopped listening to him whenever someone questioned Jesus' actions. Jesus would always say a parable and followed up with saying the Heavenly Father is good. However, this never lasted long, as the Pharisees questioned Jesus so much that His life was taken because of it. Use this as a cautionary tale. Only listen to those who know the complete Bible from start to finish. If you don't know the stories then your church failed you. Thanks for reading!
